2017 A creative experience in the Alpes de Haute-Provence

Gathering, creating, building, shaping, making; the project detailed here is the result of a desire to do—to do everything myself. This approach imposed itself on its own, at the end of my initial training as a designer. I had learned to design objects, to understand fabrication, to model them on a screen, but I made very little myself. This distance, this abstraction, pushed me to want to do more with my own hands.

In the spring, I went to set up a rudimentary workshop with only 5 tools—a saw, a wood chisel, a knife, thread, and a box of matches—in the riverbed of the Bès, and set out in search of materials to shape.

This experience is documented through a video (13 min), analog photographs, a display of natural elements, fragments of objects, and a self-published booklet.

This project allowed me to open a new creative period, and this approach still infuses my artistic practice today.
